Sylion

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Sylion Pty Ltd (“Sylion”, “we”, “us”, “our”), an Australian company, collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information when you visit our website, join our waitlist, or use our private beta product.

Sylion is currently in private beta. Access is by invitation only. By using the site or joining the waitlist you accept the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use Sylion.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you join the waitlist we ask for your email address and a short description of how you intend to use Sylion. You may optionally provide your profession, company, and links to your professional profiles. If you sign up via a referral link we record the referring user's referral code so we can attribute the introduction.

When you submit an invitation code we record the code and the time it was redeemed.

Information collected automatically

Our servers receive standard request metadata, including your IP address, browser user agent, and request timestamps. We use this information to operate the service, prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting repeated signup attempts), and diagnose technical issues.

We store a small number of cookies and one local-storage entry in your browser:

  • sylion_access — an httpOnly cookie set after a valid invitation code is redeemed; used to gate the beta application.
  • sylion_waitlist_code— a localStorage entry that remembers your referral code so you don't resubmit the waitlist form by mistake.

We do not currently use third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies. If we introduce them, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.

2. How we use your information

  • To operate the waitlist and prioritise invitations.
  • To send transactional and product email — for example, your waitlist confirmation and notifications when your invite is ready.
  • To attribute referrals between users and (in future, once email verification is in place) award referral credit.
  • To prevent abuse, spam, and automated submissions.
  • To improve the product and respond to your requests.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

3. Email communications

We send transactional email (signup confirmation, invitation delivery, account notices) through Resend. You will only receive product update emails directly related to your waitlist participation. We do not currently send marketing campaigns. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time by replying or following the link in the email; transactional emails (such as account access) may continue while your account is active.

4. Referrals

When you share your referral link, the recipient's browser may carry your referral code to our signup form. If they sign up, we record the referrer-to-referee relationship and increment a referral counter on your account. We do not share the referee's contact details with you. You are responsible for who you share your referral link with — please don't share it with people who haven't agreed to receive it.

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of carefully chosen processors to operate Sylion:

  • Supabase — database hosting for the waitlist and invitation tables.
  • Resend — outbound transactional email delivery.
  • Our hosting provider — runs the Sylion application and may process IP addresses and request logs as part of normal operation.

These processors handle data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data sharing and disclosure

We disclose personal information only:

  • to the processors listed above, as needed to operate Sylion;
  • if required by law, court order, or to respond to a legitimate government request;
  • to protect our rights, the safety of users, or the integrity of our systems; and
  • in connection with a corporate transaction (e.g., merger or acquisition), in which case we will notify affected users.

7. International data transfers

Our processors operate globally. Your information may be stored or processed outside Australia — including in the United States and the European Union — under each processor's standard data protection commitments.

8. Data retention

We retain waitlist records for as long as you remain on the waitlist or hold an active beta account, plus a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. You can request deletion at any time (see section 10).

9. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information — encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed access tokens, server-side secrets isolated from client code, and limited access to production systems. No system is perfectly secure; in the event of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in line with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

10. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of your information;
  • withdraw consent for non-essential processing; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached the APPs.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@sylion.co.

11. Children

Sylion is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as Sylion evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. If a change materially affects how we use your information we will notify you by email.
